5 Things To Do to Get Out of a Rut

Hi loves! Today I'm going to be chatting about how to get out of a rut because if you're anything like me, you also get seasonal depression during this time of year. I feel like it's a hard time for everyone because the weather is cold and grey, no one is doing as much so you're not being as social, and you have the pressure of it being a new year. At least that's how I always feel during this time of the year and sometimes it can really get me feeling down. With that being said, I feel like the past two years I've learned a few tips and tricks that help boost my mood and get me out of a rut that I wanted to share with you all

  1. Workout or Move your Body

This one might seem kind of obvious or annoying because I feel like everyone says to do this but I am telling you that getting some sort of movement in during my day is seriously a game changer for me. I'm a big morning workout person and I feel like it helps me start the day off on the right note and gives me that extra motivation I might need. Plus, Elle Woods was onto something when she said that exercise increases endorphins which make you feel happy! So whether you get in a workout or just go for a quick walk, moving my body ALWAYS boosts my mood.

2. Get some vitamin D

I know this one can also be difficult especially if you're living in a cold climate but I've been trying to get outside for a walk after my workout in the morning and just bundle up if it's freezing. The fresh air and sun immediately makes me feel better and puts me in a much better mindset. Listen to the mood boost or monday motivation playlist on spotify and you'll be feeling yourself before you know it!

3. Treat yourself

I like to romanticize my day to day life as much as possible or else honestly every day can start to feel very mundane and all the same. So during this time especially, I like to do small little things to boost my mood or make me happy. For example, I like to make my favorite coffee in the morning with my nutpods creamer or make my favorite baked oats for breakfast. It can also be great do a little self care after a long day and doing a face mask, reading a book, or self tanning are some of my favorites. Whatever it may be, do something small in your day that makes you feel better can seriously get you out of a rut!

4. Drink Water

Sometimes for me part of being in a rut stems from not feeling like I'm doing enough or not accomplishing enough in my day. Something super simple that everyone can do is drinking enough water. Every person should be drinking at least half of their body weight in ounces of water everyday and this is something that everyone can do and will make you feel like you're doing something good for your body at the same time! Not to mention, drinking water can help improve your skin, get rid of toxins, and flush out your body.

5. Wake up Early

I personally love waking up early and getting a workout in but if you're not a morning workout person, I totally get it! With that being said, I still think it's super important to wake up early and have some time for yourself before jumping right into your day. Especially if you're working from home, I think it's important to have that time to yourself in the morning and focus on yourself. Whether you want to read, stretch, journal, or just relax and drink your morning coffee, I truly think having some alone time in your morning will help you feel more like yourself and boost your mood for the day!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and can implement some of these tips in your day to day and hopefully see a difference!

XOXO,

Averie!
